Sketch Of The Week July 3/09

dinocrabHere is the second part of this weeks sketch of the week.  You can see last weeks here.  It’s amazing how a little bit of color can really push a concept.  I added a few things with color like the slobber in the mouth, some texture to the legs and back, and some stripes on the back and face.  The combo of these really help give it that nightmarish feel or the feel of something sailors catch from dirty women.  O and I almost forgot the addition of several more small eyes on the face to give it that extra creep factor.

That’s it for this week.  Remember to give me more suggestions for next week.

Thanks,

A

  1. Wow! That is the best finishing job I have seen from you. I love the different brush strokes and the color overlays. They really look great. When I win the lotto here in the next few weeks I will definately through some coloring book work your way. I retract any and all statements about your animals, and the Buffaloser Billskis, butI hold firm to the statement that still suck on a personal level. Professionally, thing are looking up.

  2. Sorry for the several glaring typos. My dog is going NUTS with the fireworks. I am generally a much better speller than Andrew.

  3. You would have to be mentally disabled to be a worse speller than I am. Long live the king! I prefer to think of it as my creativity spills over into my spelling.

Thanks for the tip on the extra insect eyes on the head. It really helped carry the insectoid theme throughout.

As for the brushes Deviant Art has a few good photshop brushes but I would recommend checking out http://www.imaginefx.com/ FX is a flipping awesome magazine and an even better site. If you don’t mind shelling out about $15- $19 a magazine. And its European so the spell color, colour. And you talk about my spelling.
